The Bainbridge High PTSO will meet at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12 in the library at BHS.

The general meeting will be followed by a presentation by guest speaker Kathie McCarthy.

McCarthy will give the talk “Preparing Your Teen to Launch: What to Focus on During the High School Years.” She will share new ways of parenting teenagers. Her thoughtful reflections on the process of parenting blend well with the simple wisdom of Dan Siegel’s recent bestseller, “Brainstorm: The Power and Purpose of the Teenage Brain.”

McCarthy — a counselor, teacher and mother of two young adults — has led in-depth parenting programs at Hyla Middle School and at Grace Episcopal Church. She is currently part of a team from Bainbridge Yoga House that is bringing these ideas to Captain Charles Wilkes Elementary School.
