The Bainbridge Island City Council will consider the reappointment and appointment of two members to the Design Review Board at this week’s meeting.

The city received five applications for the two available positions.

Mayor Steve Bonkowski will recommend the reappointment of Alan Grainger to Position 5 on the board and the appointment of Mark Epstein to Position 4.

Epstein served as chairman of the Non-motorized Transportation Advisory Committee from 2003 to 2005.

He has more than 20 years of experience in landscape architecture in a variety of projects, from health care facilities, schools and churches to urban transportation, parks and recreation, environmental and commercial work.

Grainger currently serves as a member and vice chairman of the Design Review Board. He has 40 years of experience in architecture. Grainger founded his own firm in 1986 that has since grown to employ 110 staff, architects, interior designers, landscape and urban designers.

If Grainger is reappointed, his term will run until June 30, 2016.

Epstein’s term would expire June 30, 2015.

The city council will discuss the appointments for the Design Review Board during the “new business” portion of the agenda at 8:05 p.m. Nov. 13.

Council meetings take place at 7 p.m. every Wednesday at city hall.
