9:27 p.m. A 56-year-old Bainbridge woman was driving in the 600 block of High School Road in front of the Ace Hardware when she hit a pipe in the roadway that had been exposed by construction work on the street.

The woman’s vehicle suffered a flat right tire after striking the pipe. The pipe was exposed after rain had washed away gravel from a cut-out section of the asphalt.

While police were at the scene, a 59-year-old Bainbridge man stopped his car and told police he had also punctured his tire on that stretch of roadway. He drove home to change his tire but had returned to see what he had hit. Both drivers were told to contact the city.

A public works crew later filled the washed-out area with a cold patch. The loss of the tires was estimated at $200 each.
