Selected reports from the Bainbridge Island Police Department blotter.

MONDAY, APRIL 10

8:15 p.m. The Bainbridge Island Fire Department called police after being called to the scene of a possibly intentionally set fire outside the Bainbridge Public Library. A pile of debris under a bench outside the library was set on fire on the west side of the building. The fire was discovered by a library patron.

The debris consisted of empty alcohol bottles and a melted DVD player. The fire department put out the fire before it caused any damage to the building.

A library employee said she had see a man in his early 30s in the area before the fire was reported.

The DVD that was destroyed was library property, but there was no record of it being checked out.

The incident was labeled as reckless burning, as the fire appeared to be set intentionally but not started to damage the library.
