Monday, Jan. 5

1:08 a.m. A 24-year-old woman on Manitou Beach Drive called police after she heard music coming from her driveway and smelled burning marijuana after she went to investigate.

When she went outside, she saw a former coworker. She asked the man what he was doing there so late and said he was looking for a safe place to park.

The woman told police the man had a long history of pestering her, and she put a block on her phone so he couldn’t call six months ago. She also said he frequently came by her work.

Police attempted to contact the man, a 31-year-old island resident, at his home without success.

8:08 a.m. A 40-year-old Kingston man was charged with driving with a suspended license and not having an interlock ignition device in his vehicle after he was stopped for speeding on Manzanita Road north of Jay Street.

A Bainbridge officer pulled over the driver after clocking him on radar at 48 mph. The driver at first would not answer question after being pulled over then started crying. He said he did not have a driver’s license or any other paperwork.

Police determined he had a suspended license and a requirement to have an interlock device in his vehicle.

He said he just bought the vehicle and did not have time to have an interlock device installed. He was warned about speeding and having an expired insurance card.

Sunday, Jan. 4

8:41 a.m. A groundskeeper at Wing Point County Club found a pile of mail near the 16th hole of the golf course, near High School Road and Allen Street.

The mail was from addresses of homes in the in the 1100 and 1200 blocks of High School Road.

All of the envelopes were opened and the victims told police that had not gotten mail on Saturday, Jan. 3.

Thursday, Jan. 1

11:27 a.m. A 61-year-old man on Hansen Road NE reported a possible burglary from the previous evening.

He said two boxes had been placed on a shelf inside the front door of the home after Christmas, but when he returned from the airport, the boxes were gone. One of the boxes contained a vest that was a Christmas gift for the man’s son, and the other box contained bills and other paperwork.

The man said he had forgotten to lock the front door when he left. He also noted that an expensive pair of headphones and a camera that had been left on the same shelf were not taken.
