Bainbridge blotter | Not watching the road

FRIDAY, JULY 6

7:03 a.m. A 23-year-old University Place man drove his 2006 Chevy Silverado truck into a 2007 Toyota Corolla, driven by a 76-year-old Poulsbo woman.

The woman was driving south on Sportsmans Club Road, turning east into the Coppertop Business Park. The man was driving behind her, and did not see her slowing to turn. He collided with the rear of her car, pushing the vehicle across a lane of traffic and off the road.

The man was cited for inattentive driving.

There were no injuries.

2:07 p.m. A 21-year-old Bainbridge Island woman drove her 1999 Toyota into the rear of a 2017 Chevy Express, driven by a Seabeck man.

The man had stopped at a red light at the intersection of Highway 305 and Day Road, traveling south. The woman was coming up behind him, saw traffic begin to move, looked momentarily at her phone and struck the rear of his car, which had not yet begun to move forward.

The woman was cited for inattentive driving.

There were no injuries.
