Selected reports from the Bainbridge Island Police Department blotter:

Saturday, Nov. 29

10:27 a.m. A 50-year-old Poulsbo woman was driving on Highway 305 when her 2002 Nissan Xterra spun out and went into a ditch on the east side of the northbound lane just north of Madison Avenue.

The driver was not hurt, but was scared by the crash. She said she had hit some ice and she crossed the road into the ditch. Police said the roadway was extremely icy and it appeared the driver was not used to driving on icy roads.

The officer was able to use the vehicle’s four-wheel drive to get the car out of the ditch.

A piece of the car’s cowling was broken when the vehicle struck the dirt embankment.

9:30 a.m. A man told police his 20-year-old son became very angry after waking up and learning that guests were coming to the family’s home for Thanksgiving.

The son said he had hoped he would be able to relax at home.

The son began to argue with his parents, and they offered him alternatives to staying at home but he was not satisfied with the options. He went at his father and begin swinging his fists at his father’s face. After the father was hit, he warned his son that his mother would call the police if things didn’t calm down.

The son took two phones to prevent his mother from calling, but she called on her cell phone.

The son left before police arrived, but later came back, then left again when told that police had been called.

10:30 a.m. A resident in the 9500 block of Olympus Beach Road found a pedal boat that was flooded and floating in front of his home. The boat was swamped and had damage to the hull.

Police noted there had been significant winds and tides in the last couple of days across Puget Sound which may have caused the boat to become adrift.
