Bainbridge blotter | I saw what you did

Selected reports from the Bainbridge Island Police Department blotter.

THURSDAY, APRIL 16

4:30 p.m. A man on Parfitt Way heard a vehicle drive by at a high rate of speed followed by a loud bang. He thought the driver had hit a manhole cover.

When he went outside 10 minutes later, he found a large scratch on the driver’s side of his 2013 Dodge Dart. The driver’s side mirror had also been torn off the vehicle.

The man described the suspect vehicle as a white or light-colored small hatchback, with possibly an orange chair in the back.

4:45 p.m. A 73-year-old Bainbridge man said he got an email on his laptop from someone claiming to know one of his passwords.

The message threatened to spread a purported embarrassing video of the man to his family if he did not engage in a financial transaction within 24 hours.

Police contacted the man and told him it was a common scam.
