Kathryn Keve’s latest collection of photographs, “Beautiful Bainbridge Island,” collects 72 scenic portraits of our very own landscape and community.

The book is now available at Dana’s Showhouse, Eagle Harbor Book Company and Bloedel Reserve.

It will also be available at the winter farmers market at Eagle Harbor Church.

“The landscapes here also evoke the beauty of the entire Pacific Northwest,” Keve said. “I remember that in my teens, when crossing the Chesapeake Bay by ferry, before the bridge was built, I had a numinous, time-out-of space experience. The first time I approached Bainbridge by ferry, I had the same feeling.”

“Like coming home,” she said.

Keve said her work is about more than just pretty pictures, however.

“Beyond appreciation of our local treasures, perhaps the book will also serve to inspire efforts to preserve more Northwest forests and restore the health of Puget Sound such as the Kitsap Forest and Bay Project,” Keve explained.

Keve works with authors who wish to self-publish. She is currently working on a book of heron photographs and a 50-year high school reunion yearbook.
