Holmes wins academic prize

Wesleyan University student Joli Holmes of Bainbridge Island was recognized this spring with the Plukas Prize.

Established in 1986 by John Plukas, Class of 1966, this prize is awarded to graduating economics seniors to be applied toward summer expenses, during which period each student will work under the supervision of a faculty adviser to convert an honors project into a publishable article.

Holmes, a Bainbridge High School graduate, also received the Plukas Teaching Apprenticeship Award. Established in 1986 by John Plukas, Class of 1966, this prize is awarded for excellent service to the Economics Department as a teaching apprentice.

Wesleyan University is a private, non-sectarian liberal arts university in Middletown, Connecticut that was founded in 1831.
