Do the ‘Time Warp’ again at Bainbridge Cinemas

Let’s do the time warp again.

The beloved cult phenomenon that is “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” (1975) is returning once more to Bainbridge Cinemas for a seasonal screening at 9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28.

Directed by Jim Sharman, the movie is a loving parody/tribute to classic science fiction and horror “B” movies of the 1930s through to the early ‘70s.

Though much beloved for its surreal craziness, the story ostensibly centers on a young engaged couple (Susan Sarandon, Barry Bostwick) whose car breaks down in the rain near a castle where they seek the use of a telephone to call for help. The castle is occupied by strangers in elaborate costumes celebrating an annual convention of some sort. They discover the head of the house is Dr. Frank N. Furter (Tim Curry), a mad scientist who actually is an alien transvestite, who creates a living Adonis (Peter Hinwood) in his laboratory.

The couple is then seduced by the mad scientist and his creation, and, as his plans begin to go horribly awry, the servants take control of the party.

The film also stars Richard O’Brien, Patricia Quinn, Nell Campbell, Meat Loaf and Charles Gray.

From Wikipedia.com: “Although largely critically panned on initial release, it soon became known as a midnight movie when audiences began participating with the film at the Waverly Theater in New York City in 1976. Audience members returned to the cinemas frequently and talked back to the screen and began dressing as the characters, spawning similar performance groups across the United States.”

Audience participation is encouraged at the Bainbridge screening. Tickets are on sale. Visit www.farawayentertainment.com to learn more and purchase.
