Bainbridge Cinema will return “The Maltese Falcon” to the big screen as part of a special 75th anniversary two-show-only event at 7 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 21 and Wednesday, Feb. 24.

The beloved film noir classic will be accompanied by special commentary from Turner Classic Movie hosts, who will provide insight and background about the iconic movie, in which a gallery of high-living lowlifes will stop at nothing to get their sweaty hands on the titular jewel-encrusted falcon.

Detective Sam Spade (Humphrey Bogart) wants to find out why — and who’ll take the fall for his partner’s murder.

The cinematic classic, which was directed by John Huston, was adapted for the screen from Dashiell Hammett’s iconic novel.

The all-star cast includes Sydney Greenstreet, Mary Astor, Peter Lorre and Elisha Cook Jr.

Nominated for three Academy Awards including Best Picture, Best Supporting Actor (Greenstreet) and Best Screenplay (Huston), this is the film that catapulted Bogart to stardom and launched Huston’s directorial career.

The film will be shown in the same aspect ratio as when it was originally released in cinemas in 1941.

Tickets are $10.50 for adults and $8.50 for children, seniors and students.
