BPA Theatre School showcase tackles mythology

Tall tales from a Bavarian commander and three legends from ancient Greece take the stage Nov. 3 and 4.

The 2016 Fall Play Festival offerings from Bainbridge Performing Arts’ Theatre School are old-school.

Really, really old-school.

The second through fifth-graders will tackle Baron Munchausen,” which highlights just a few of the very tall tales supposedly told by the Bavarian commander.

The fifth- through eighth-grade production, “Tales of the Heroine Atalanta,” will feature the three major legends from ancient Greece in which the famed huntress played a crucial role. Recognizable characters like Heracles, Theseus, Jason and more will appear, and trips will be taken from Siberia to Ceylon to the moon.

The evening’s festivities will also include Shakespearean monologues from BPA Theatre School’s Teen Intensive students.

The show will begin at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 3 and Friday, Nov. 4.

Tickets, $10 for adults and $5 for seniors, youth, students, military and teachers, may be purchased online at www.bainbridgeperformingarts.org, by phone at 206-842-8569 or in person at 200 Madison Ave. North.
