Stop-sign dance a friendly gesture | Letters, Dec. 3

I enjoyed Eve Leonard’s column (“Veer right at Wyatt and Madison,” Nov. 26) about the driving habits of islanders. When my wife and I first moved here 10 years ago (I know, we are still newcomers) from the Bay Area (I know, we are here to Californicate Bainbridge Island), I found the four-way stop sign experience fascinating.

When cars arrived simultaneously at an intersection, more often than not each driver would insist that the other go first. Cobwebs would form between road and tires before somebody made a move. I’ve never had a problem with that.

The friendly, polite people here are one of many reasons why I fell in love with Bainbridge Island.
