Please with blood drive turnouts | Letters | Jan. 29

In a time when there is so much to be sad or stressed about or to complain about, I would like to to send out a great big “thank you” to the residents of this island.

I am a volunteer with Puget Sound Blood Center, and I am the person who puts posters up all over town, and has the pleasure of serving juice and cookies at the American Legion Hall occasionally. We have had several drives on the island lately, which evidently many of you are well aware of.

The response at these drives has been just amazing. Even when people had to wait a long time just to be registered, no one got impatient. I’m not sure why the up-turn in donations, but whatever the reason, it has been much appreciated and has contributed to many saved lives.

So three cheers to Bainbridge Island; you should all be very proud. I know I am!
