To the editor:

Longtime island steward Ron Peltier is running for city council in the only contested race. You should vote for him.

Ron came to us highly recommended and at a time when we needed a carpenter who was capable and honest and trustworthy. The next year we had him come back to accomplish an even larger job.

Ron cares about his work, he cares about his community, and he cares about the future of our island. He does not just talk about the way things should be, he lives it. He stands up for his beliefs while honoring those who disagree. He is thoughtful, persuasive, and a community leader. And he has the track record to prove it.

We need Ron Peltier on the city council because he listens, he stands up for what he believes and does not scorn those who disagree.

We need Ron Peltier on the city council because he understands and believes in the five overriding principles of the comprehensive plan, and he has already proven that he will fight for them.
