To the editor:

During a campaign, a vigorous political debate is important. It gives everyone the opportunity to voice their opinions, engage in dialog, and bring forward issues to address.

We, Dave Ward, Sarah Blossom, and Steve Bonkowski decided to join in the debate and chose to endorse candidate(s).

Now that the election is over and the campaign rhetoric is done, we would like to congratulate Val Tollefson, Roger Townsend and Wayne Roth for their positive and successful campaigns. Together we can now begin to prepare for the next council.

Already newly elected council members are meeting with the remaining council. Most importantly, we are getting to know one another. We are also talking about the mechanics of the work of the council, sharing visions for Bainbridge Island, and focusing on how to become a team with the city manager and his staff.

Please join us in welcoming the newest members of the Bainbridge Island City Council, we look forward to working together for the community. Moving forward, the Island’s future looks bright.
