To the editor:

A huge thank you to all eighth-grade parents for the wonderful Eighth-Grade Banquet that was held at Woodward Middle School on Saturday, June 2.

It really takes a village to pull off such a large event. We could not have done this without the support of Woodward Middle School staff the PTO and the many vendors on Bainbridge Island who donated and contributed to make the event extra special.

We would like to especially thank Murat Tasdemir from Tasdemir Rugs and Island Ambiance for his incredible generosity in loaning us rugs, doors and lanterns — all of which added hugely to the transformation of Woodward. Also, Valley Nursery for the palm trees, Kathryn Petit from Petit and Olson, the team at The 122 Restaurant, Bainbridge Bakers, Town & Country Market, Casa Rojas, Westside Pizza, Subway, That’s a Some Pizza, BPA and Ace Hardware.

To the chairs of the event: thank you for the months of dedication, your positive energy and all your hard work: beverage bar co-chairs, Tara Beatie and Lisa Wise;  baby photos chair, Kristin Tollefson; chaperones chair, Shannon Amelang; check-in co-chairs, Michele Hobbs and Susan Brennan; claim check co-chairs, Paige Palmer and Nancy Rees; clean-up chair, Laura Sachs; cool-off area chair, Teresa Costa; crew lounge chair, Kathy Mead; decorations chair, Corinna Munter; entertainment co-chairs, Outi Francis and Sarah Nicholson;    food chair, Kim Raymond; invitations chair, Molly Sullivan; slide show co-chairs, Gary and Diane Bedell; tables chair, Kathy Turner; ticket sales chair, Liana Miller; volunteer chair, Lara Lant; wait staff co-chairs, Jessica Ruud and Jennifer Smith-Gori.

We also had a large group of very talented and hard working people that were not “chairs” but without whom the work would never have been done: Scott Weaver, scenic painting; Roger Sahleen, construction; Lisa Thomas, Joan Lukasik, Dana Maria, Scott Cole and Rachael Alnwick, decoration; Kathi Murphy, bathroom decoration; Patty Keplinger, cupcakes; SueEllen Van Duyne, design; Marie Sinclair-Bennett, design; Jeff Dalton, pipe and drape; Dana Amore, floor plans; the incredible team who transformed the cool-off area; and the wait staff and chaperones.

To everyone listed above and all those that I have omitted in error, a thousand thanks.
