To the editor:

I recently had the opportunity to participate in the Citizens Police Academy with a dozen other islanders. It was a great experience.

I want to thank the Bainbridge Island Police Department and Chief Hamner for extending themselves and sharing what they do in such an open and friendly way. I was impressed by the level of expertise of our safety professionals.

Many of us appreciate the safe and friendly environment that Bainbridge affords us and our families. It was a privilege to learn how our police officers routinely put themselves in harm’s way on our collective behalf and show genuine concern for the safety of our Bainbridge Island residents. Thank you!
