Speaking of Hilltop, as the election season concludes, one of Bainbridge’s proudest accomplishments unites all islanders and is a longterm investment that will pay dividends for generations to come.

Hindsight is crystal clear that the efforts to negotiate conservation easements and help acquire open space by our Bainbridge Island Land Trust have yielded true island treasures.

It’s been estimated that the island has about a 10-year window available to meaningfully add to this legacy. However there still exists a current challenge before more properties can be addressed and that is to finish the funding for the beautiful Hilltop corridor that joins the East and West Grand Forests.

The present gap is about $300,000, but a unique opportunity currently presents itself to substantially close that gap. An anonymous benefactor has offered a rare $75,000 matching challenge.

The Bainbridge Island Land Trust needs your contribution to meet that challenge. We urge you to consider putting a check in the mail today – BILT, PO Box 10144 – or contributing on-line. Thank you.
