To the editor:

We have been loyal customers of Town & Country Market for a quarter of a century. We have never had a reason to complain about the service or products. We would like to thank the Loverich and Nakata families and everyone involved with the store for the 57 years of continued, gracious, accommodating, fair and friendly service to our community.  Because of the friendly atmosphere, the store functions as the “Bainbridge Community Center.” Innumerable conversations and social arrangements happen in the produce section. The point we are making is that the folks who run this store know how to do it very well. They know what the community likes and how to attract customers. So it seems to us their judgment and ideas regarding their remodel should be graciously considered, not held to arbitrary strictures.

Because of the integrity and knowledge expressed by the store owners, managers and staff and that it is an anchor for downtown Winslow it should remain on the main street. It’s remodeling is not an “opportunity” to make the design bend to arbitrary rules of the city.

Folks who run a leading and successful business should be held in highest regard and knowledge of their business valued. So just give them their permit and trust their wisdom.
