To the editor:

The Washington Primary is Aug. 7. It’s important to vote because it is the time when we show our support for our candidates. Only the top two vote-getters, regardless of party affiliation, advance to the general election.

There are some races that deserve special attention — particularly the judges’ races. These races are often ignored, yet these elected officials make daily decisions that impact the lives of ordinary people seeking justice.

Our friend, Karen Klein, is running for Kitsap County Superior Court Judge, Position 7, and we believe that she will make a great judge.

Karen is a long-time resident of Bainbridge Island. We have known Karen for eight years and have always been impressed with her great intelligence, hard work and personal integrity.  These qualities, as well as her professionalism, are strengths that will make her an outstanding judge.

The Kitsap County Superior Court serves residents on many civil, juvenile and criminal issues. We need judges who have a diversity of legal experience.

Karen’s legal career spans 30 years and includes private practice, teaching at the University of Washington law school and serving as a Pro Tem Judge. Karen has the knowledge, skills and right temperament to serve our residents well.

Please vote for Karen Klein in the Aug. 7 Primary Election to ensure that she advances to the general election in November. Our community deserves a competent, compassionate judge like Karen Klein!
