Foundation’s campaign hopes to raise $400,000 | Letters | June 18

The Bainbridge Schools Foundation would like to thank all of our community members and families who have donated to our Keep Island Schools Strong (KISS) campaign.

So far we have raised over $158,000.

Because of these donations, Bainbridge Island School District will hire back a fourth-grade teacher to reduce class size and eliminate the need to relocate students from one school to another.

The KISS Campaign dollars will also reinstate some of the core curriculum and specialist hours that were scheduled to be eliminated in the middle schools and the high school.

The KISS campaign donations help to preserve course offerings and maintain class size in the district’s elementary, intermediate, middle, high school and options programs.

Our urgent campaign will continue through June 30 to raise the $400,000 necessary to hire back all of the eliminated teaching positions for 2010-2011 school year.

If you haven’t already given, please consider a donation of any kind.

About $15 per student per month would meet our fund-raising goal for teacher salaries.

Donations can be made at: www.bainbridgeschoolsfoundation.org or if you would like to set up a monthly donation please call 855-0530.

Thank you so much for your support!
