Don’t miss the next judicial candidate forum | LETTER TO THE EDITOR

Judges matter. Last week we saw how judicial decision-making can affect the entire nation. Judges also routinely affect our lives by decisions they make in more local courts.

The Washington State Constitution places the selection of judges in the hands of the people. However this can be difficult, because information on candidates is limited and can be greatly influenced by special interest groups.

Seeing the candidates in person and evaluating their responses to questions is a great way to be able to make informed decisions. The recent forum for Court of Appeals and Superior Court candidates hosted by Kiwanis provided that opportunity.

Don’t miss the next forum — this time for Washington State Supreme Court candidates — to be held at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church (1187 Wyatt Way) from 7 to 8:30 p.m. July 11.
