Council, not the mayor, should be in charge | Letters | April 10

It has always felt a little strange. Who’s in charge at city council meetings? In Olympia everybody knows who’s in charge. In the House it is the speaker and the majority leader. In the Senate it is the majority leader. The governor is no where to be seen.

But here on Bainbridge the mayor, the executive, chairs the meetings of the city council. Seems kind of goofy. Elsewhere on the island, up at the school district, the school board hires an executive (the superintendant) to run the show. Sounds like a good model for the city. I’m voting for change!
