To the editor:

It’s been 12 years since I’ve written a letter to the Review.

As a “new” resident I authored a missive related to the roundabout that was being created at Madison and High School roads, only to be berated by an old friend who lived down the street from us: “Dude, you can’t write letters to the Review. It’s like a scarlet letter!”

Since that time I’ve bitten my lip on every topic that boiled my blood or caused me to roll my eyes, from the silliness of city council meetings, to the vitriolic, downright nasty, incessant ramblings of James M. Olsen (thanks to Bob Burkholder for covering THAT topic this week)

But this week I reached my limit with the front page article about Little League signage on the roadsides somehow being offensive to the point that a local resident phoned the city to complain. Little League signage! Are we serious?

I can think of few things more important on an island where we need to keep our kids engaged than good old, All-American Little League.

C’mon, city of Bainbridge. Take one for the teams and do away with this ridiculous law or at the very least turn a blind eye to it. Bring some by my house, Mr. Strachan. I’ll put ‘em up.

I’d have written more letters to the Review if I’d known it was as easy as accessing your website. No wonder I see so many from James M. Olsen!
