To the editor:

In this polarized age in which we live it was refreshing to read of Mike Kelly’s experience at the State of the Union address (Feb. 28; “Why I Went to the State of the Union”).

In my view the Energy Innovation and Carbon Dividend Act (HR 763) would not only produce meaningful results in cutting carbon emissions (estimated 40 percent over the next 12 years), it would also demonstrate that Democrats and Republicans can work together to accomplish something significant on an important issue.

I applaud Rep. Kilmer and others for creating a bill that both parties can support.
