To the editor:

Thank you Bainbridge! The recent Scout Troop 1564 Christmas Tree Recycling event was a great success.

Despite the stormy weather, 34 Scouts and their parents picked up and recycled more than

1,000 Christmas trees from across the Island. This is a record! The resulting mulch has been donated to the Bainbridge Island Metropolitan Park & Recreation District. We know the continued growth and success of this annual service is due to enthusiastic community support, and we thank the many residents across Bainbridge who participate in this recycling effort. We are also so grateful for the tremendous support received from our local businesses and organizations.  A HUGE thank you goes to Waag Tree Service for their time and equipment to chip the trees into mulch. We also received wonderful support from American Legion Post No. 172 and its members, Fairbank Construction, Sound Reprographics, U-Haul Truck Rental, Ace Hardware, Safeway, Rolling Bay Jiffy Mart, Bainbridge Island Tree Farm, Grandma’s Tree Farm, Scout Troop 1565, Ray’s Automotive Service, Bainbridge First Baptist and Day Road Animal Hospital. The scouts collected several ornaments left on the trees. Photos are posted at www.TreeRecycle.net. We hope they will be reclaimed.
