Adopt-a-Highway program at work | Letters | Spet. 25

This is a letter to thank the real estate agents from John L. Scott on Bainbridge Island for picking up trash on Highway 305 for the past six years.

Once a quarter the agents pick up cigarette butts, soda cans, beer cans and fast-food containers from the ferry to Sportsman Club Road on both the east and west sides of the highway.

You may have noticed them on Sept. 18.

They tell me it has been a rewarding experience to know they have made a difference in the appearance of our community.

When people leave the ferry and drive north they enjoy the beauty of the setting and the lack of trash enhances that beauty.

As they leave the island, the impression is that we have a nice clean community goes with them.

If you or your organization would like to participate in the Adopt-a-Highway program you can contact the Department of Transportation at (360) 705-7000.
