Bilingual children’s author debuts book

Jill Brazier, Seattle-based author of the Spanish-English children’s book “Doley the Guatemalan Street Dog” will give a special pre-release reading of her second book in the Doley series, “The Caravan of Colors,” at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 5 at The Traveler.

The event is a benefit for the Bainbridge Ometepe Sister Islands Association and also marks the 20th year that The Traveler owners, Barbara Tolliver and Susan Taylor, have donated 5 percent of their December sales to benefit school libraries on Ometepe.

The gala event will feature Brazier reading from and discussing this new story of Doley with children at 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

Nicaraguan-born artist Marcio Diaz will display his original paintings for Brazier’s new book, and both the author and artist will sign special edition proof copies of the book that will be sold that day.
