Field’s End, the writers’ community established in 2002 as a committee of the Bainbridge Public Library, is merging with BARN Writers.

The combined leadership team will expand program offerings to aspiring and established writers with writing instruction, topical workshops, resources, writing groups and a physical space for writers.

As a Field’s End spokesperson said, “BARN celebrates the simple magic of making things — a necessary ingredient to human well-being. By supporting 11 separate studios, BARN offers numerous distinct creative arenas to explore. Its activities encourage small groups to coalesce around a specific craft. Such settings generate cooperation, mentorship and community – just the support most writers need.”

Following in the tradition of Field’s End, BARN Writers will make some of its offerings free to the public, including a new monthly Fourth Thursday Writers’ Roundtable.

The first edition kicked off April 28 with authors Anne Clermont and Rebecca Laclair discussing the art of starting a writing project.

Each month, BARN Writers will invite authors, industry professionals and others to share tips, offer assistance and give inspiration.
