Schneider still winning in bid to retain Bainbridge council seat

Incumbent Bainbridge Councilwoman Leslie Schneider maintained her lead over challenger Grayson William Wildsmith in the third tally of votes in the race for the District 4, Central Ward seat on the Bainbridge city council.

Schneider now has 53.3 percent of the vote, while Wildsmith has 45.9 percent, according to the Thursday night update of votes by the Kitsap County Elections Division.

Wildsmith led in the first vote tally on Election Night by 61 votes.

After Wednesday’s second count of later-arriving ballots, Schneider shot into the lead by 186 votes — a 247-vote turnaround.

Schneider was in front after the second day of vote counting, with 51.1 percent of the vote, compared to Wildsmith’s 47.8 percent on Wednesday.

The current ballot tally stands at 3,813 votes for Schneider, and 3,286 votes for Wildsmith.

The next vote update is scheduled for 5 p.m. Friday.
