Island Film Group screens ‘Chinatown’

The Island Film Group will meet this month to watch a classic movie starring Jack Nicholson.

The group will screen “Chinatown,” a 1974 Paramount Pictures release that was directed by Roman Polanski and also stars Faye Dunaway and John Huston.

The motion picture was nominated for 11 Academy Awards, and won an Oscar for Robert Towne in the category of Best Original Screenplay.

The plot: A private detective hired to expose an adulterer finds himself caught up in a web of deceit, corruption, and murder.

The film will be screened at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 12 at the Bainbridge Public Library. The group will have a discussion after the showing.
