FRIDAY, FEB. 17
3:21 p.m. Blakey Elementary received a piece of threatening hate mail.
Police visited the school to examine the letter, which was apparently sent in reference to a controversial news story about one of the school’s teachers allowing only the girl students to play with Legos. The letter, received earlier that day, was addressed to the teacher, via the school, and contained inflammatory, threatening language and “numerous female slurs.”
“The letter writer indicates that they wish harm to come upon the teacher,” the police report said.
It was signed “Michigan Lady,” and the postmark confirmed it was sent from out of state.
No overt, specific threats were made in the letter, thus the teacher in question did not call the police herself but turned it in to the school office.
