PMYC to host annual Jim Depue Memorial Cup

The West Sound Sailing Association Trophy Series will open Saturday, Feb. 25, as Port Madison Yacht Club hosts the annual Jim Depue Memorial Cup.

The 16.5-nautical-mile race begins off Point Monroe at the north end of Bainbridge Island, with marks at Wing Point, West Point and Jefferson Head.

The race is open to members of US Sailing, PHRF-NW, and all members of yacht clubs with Pacific International Yachting Association affiliation.

A valid PHRF-NW rating is required for Divisions I (PHRF 140 and under) and II (PHRF 141 and over). Division III (cruising) requires a PHRF-NW rating or a rating assigned by the race committee.

Other races in the 2017 WSSA Trophy Series and hosting clubs include the Annual Spring Shakedown (Port Orchard Yacht Club), March 25; Rich Passage Ramble (West Sound Corinthian Yacht Club), April 15; Poulsbo Invitational (Poulsbo Yacht Club), April 22; Port Orchard Invitational (Port Orchard Yacht Club), May 13; Blake Island (Bremerton Yacht Club), June 10; and Brownsville Race (West Sound Corinthian Yacht Club), June 24.

The series culminates with presentation of the West Sound Sailor of the Year trophy, awarded to the lowest overall scored finisher from Divisions I and II.
