BAINBRIDGE – The Spartans swam to first-place finishes in five races to beat West Seattle and Chief Sealth in boys varsity swimming late last week at the Bainbridge Aquatic Center.
Bainbridge won the 200-yard freestyle, the 200-yard individual medley, the 100-yard butterfly, 500-yard freestyle and 400-yard freestyle relay.
The Spartans also finished with three state qualifying times.
Garrett Waite finished with state times in the 200 free (1:46.92) and 100 fly (54.06).
Makai Ingalls swam as the lead-off leg for the 400 free relay and notched a 3A state qualifying time for the 100 free in 48.76.
The Spartans went one, two, three in the 200-yard IM and the 400-yard free relay, with wins in all three top spots.
John Velisaris finished first in the 200 IM with a time of 2:11.52, followed by Jack Kapel (2:18.99) and Clay Jablonski.
The final scores in the meet were:
Chief Sealth International 68-30 over West Seattle High;
Bainbridge 102-41 against West Seattle; and Bainbridge 86-65 over Chief Sealth.
