Science club starts at Carden Country School

Erica Saint Clair and students from Carden Country School jumped into the first meeting of Science Club with an exploration into liquid density and buoyancy.
Led by Saint Clair, who has a doctorate’s degree in physics, the students prepared for their final test where they will build pirate ships and compete to determine which design will hold the most pirate booty and which will be the fastest vessel.
The youngsters tested different liquids to determine their relative densities and then created their own density columns.
“Students love to learn, and when it’s hands-on and pretty messy, nothing is better!” said Carden director Stephanie Rohl.
“This was the best science club I have ever attended,” remarked Max, a first-grader.
Students in grades 1 through 4 will continue to test the pirate waters for the next three weeks and then switch to Squishy Circuits during this after-school program.
