To the editor:
We want to thank everyone that worked together and supported Helpline’s 16th annual Project Backpack.
We were able to serve 143 local students pre-K through college and help them start the first day of school on par with their peers. The program will also continue to provide assistance with education related expenses throughout the school year.
We thank our generous community members and organizations who donated funds, backpacks, binders, paper and other school supplies and of course all the volunteers who spread the word, prepared, bundled and distributed essential school supplies the week before school started.
A special thank you goes to our community business partners: Modern Collision’s Cruise-In, Bainbridge Windermere, Bainbridge Rotary Club, Puget Sound Electric and Ace Hardware.
It’s because of you we can continue our mission: neighbor helping neighbor, and make our island a compassionate place.
In gratitude.
