THURSDAY, JUNE 30

2:26 p.m. A 56-year-old Bainbridge woman reported a case of identity theft.

The woman said she received a letter from the Internal Revenue Service letting her know she and her husband’s tax return had been received, but the woman said they hadn’t yet filed their return.

She contacted the IRS and the agency said an unknown person had filed a return over the internet using her and her husband’s names and Social Security numbers.

She was told by the IRS to file a police report.

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 29

10:27 a.m. An 86-year-old Bainbridge woman on Knetchel Way NE said someone entered her unlocked vehicle overnight and took her purse. Her checkbook and a credit card were also missing.

The woman said she would close her account.
