Men’s jewelry is having its moment in the sun and award-winning Bainbridge Island jeweler Robin Callahan is meeting the moment with bold new work.
“I’ve always created pieces for men and unisex wear, but recently the surge in requests has inspired me to design new collections that really push the boundaries of what’s possible,” Robin says.
Her designs range from understated, natural-metal cuffs and dog tags built for everyday wear to unapologetically brilliant rings and statement pieces set with rubies, black and white diamonds, emeralds and sapphires. The balance between rugged simplicity and bold refinement makes her work as fitting with a casual jacket as it is with a tailored suit.
As a custom jewelry designer, metalsmith and lapidary artist, Robin often sources gem rough directly from mines, then cuts and sets stones herself or collaborates with some of the world’s top lapidary artists. Each piece becomes a one-of-a-kind, heirloom-quality creation shaped to reflect the individual wearing it.
“I love doing custom work, and I wish more people would consider taking the time to explore it,” Robin says. “I believe one of the biggest reasons people shy away from custom jewelry is concern over costs, but in reality, custom work can be just as affordable as purchasing a ready-made piece. The difference is that you’re buying something tailored to your preferences, with the opportunity to influence every design choice along the way.”
This year also marks a first for Robin: a new partnership with Palm Beach Gems by Nicole in Palm Beach, Florida, where fine jewelry is paired with luxury cars in one distinctive destination.
“This collaboration is really exciting because Palm Beach Gems is taking such a fresh approach,” Robin says. “Pairing fine jewelry with luxury cars creates a unique experience you don’t often see. It’s about celebrating style, craftsmanship and individuality in a way that appeals to everyone.”
Designed exclusively for Palm Beach Gems by Nicole, the collection carries forward the artistry and craftsmanship that have earned Robin Callahan Designs international recognition, more than 30 national and international awards, and two Alfie Norville Museum Awards. The full collection will be released this October.
