Fish passage progress

Last week, the construction crew completed pouring the concrete approach slabs on both the north and south sides of the fish passage culvert at Eagle Harbor Drive.

This week, the focus shifted to forming and pouring the concrete barricades on either side of the culvert and installing sections of the water main, per a city news release. Weather permitting, the road is still scheduled to reopen Oct. 6.

However, the overall project will not be complete by that date. Intermittent traffic flagging operations will continue during work hours for both the culvert project and the separate water line project taking place north of the culvert on Wyatt Way.

Water tank work

Work is underway on the new Winslow water tank, which will boost fire flow and enhance water quality for the Winslow system.

To make these upgrades safe and reliable, crews are adding new water lines and pressure-reducing stations, including a new line under Highway 305 at Madison Avenue, to keep household water pressure steady, protect appliances from the stronger flow and improve water quality, per a city news release.

Traffic impacts at Madison and 305 (Oct. 1–Nov. 21) include: Southbound Madison at 305 closed (northbound lane flagged at times); Lanes on west side of 305 shifted to keep two-way traffic moving; A temporary 8-foot emergency lane will be in place (yield to emergency responders.)

The city is working with the Bainbridge Island Fire Department on optimal emergency vehicle access during this work.
