Island sailors win in Europe

BRUNNEN, Switzerland – Llanoria, a 6-meter sailboat owned by Peter Hofmann of Bainbridge Island, won the Classics Division of the 2016 European 6-Meter Championship in July on Lake Lucerne in Brunnen, Switzerland.

Llanoria was skippered by Eric Jespersen, of Sidney, B.C., and crewed by Herb Cole, of Seattle, Peter Watkins, of Hailey, Idaho, Kris Bundy, of Bellingham, and Peter Hofmann, of Bainbridge Island.

The group also took Llanoria to victory last year in the 2015 6-Meter World Championships in La Trinité-sur-Mer, France.

Llanoria was originally built in 1947, and won Olympic gold medals in 1948 and 1952.
