NK wins 2, Bainbridge splits, Buc boys fall

Bainbridge

The Spartans boys basketball team beat North Mason 64-44 Tuesday night. With the win, Bainbridge moves to 7-6 in Olympic League play, 9-7 on the season. Friday night, BHS fell to Bremerton 61-49.

In girls play, Bainbridge lost a heart-breaker to North Mason Tuesday night 42-38. That puts the Spartans at 5-8 in league play, 6-9 on the season. At Bainbridge, the Spartan girls won last Friday in a defensive battle 37-30 over Bremerton.

In wrestling last Wednesday, Bremerton beat Bainbridge 72-12, and Bainbridge beat Kingston 30-10.

North Kitsap

The Vikings boys basketball team trounced Bremerton 91-55 Tuesday night. NK is now 10-0 in Olympic League play, 15-2 overall.

Meanwhile, North Kitsap and Port Angeles were both unbeaten in league play going into last Thursday night’s game in Poulsbo. When two undefeateds play, you expect the game to be close. And it was. The Vikings, one of the top 2A teams in Washington, hung on to win a nail-biter 76-74.

With the win, NK improved to 9-0 in league, 14-2 overall. PA fell to 6-1 in league, 8-4 on the season. The two teams play again Feb. 10 at PA in their final regular-season game before postseason starts, also in PA, Feb. 16-19.

In girls basketball Tuesday, the Vikings got by Bremerton 47-41. NK is now 7-2 in league, 10-3 overall. The girls also romped past Olympic Monday 69-36. In girls play last Thursday, Port Angeles easily defeated the Vikings 58-34.

In wrestling Saturday, North Kitsap beat Sequim 27-6. In wrestling last Wednesday, Port Angeles edged North Kitsap 39-36.

Saturday, in gymnastics, North Kitsap beat Kingston 150-99. Also, North Kitsap beat PA 142-117 last Wednesday.

In swimming, North Kitsap easily beat Port Angeles Friday 101-69.

Kingston

The Kingston High School boys basketball team was humbled by Port Angeles Tuesday night 92-32. The Bucs had just beaten Sequim the night before 50-41. By splitting the games, Kingston is now 4-7 in Olympic League play, 7-9 on the season. Kingston won a boys basketball games last Friday night, beating North Mason 65-59. Last Thursday, Kingston dropped a heart-breaker to Sequim 53-51 in boys basketball.

The Bucs girls basketball team lost a tough one to Port Angeles 40-37 Tuesday night. That dropped the Bucs to 6-7 in league, 8-7 overall. They had just beaten North Mason Monday 60-40. Kingston’s girls lost to Sequim 63-47 Saturday.

Saturday, in gymnastics, North Kitsap beat Kingston 150-99.

In wrestling last Wednesday, Bainbridge beat Kingston 30-10. Bremerton blanked Kingston 84-0.
