4 more COVID-related deaths confirmed in Kitsap; 185 new cases

On Tuesday, the Kitsap Public Health District confirmed four more COVID-related deaths, bringing the countywide total to 294 since the pandemic began in March of 2020.

Details on the 10 most-recent deaths have not yet been provided. Of the previous 284 deaths, 112 were ages 80 and older, 67 ages 70-79, 55 ages 60-69, 33 ages 50-59, 13 ages 40-49 and four ages 30-39.

Additionally, 185 new COVID cases were also confirmed, bringing the countywide total to 36,627 since the pandemic began. Of the new cases, North Kitsap had 26, and Bainbridge Island 24; 53 were in South Kitsap, 44 in Bremerton; and 41 in Central Kitsap.

Over the last week, the county’s case rate per 100,000 residents has dropped dramatically to 511. To date, the number of Kitsap County residents who have initiated vaccination is 76.3%.

Of the 36,627 cases, 1,662 have been reported on Bainbridge Island, 9,778 in Bremerton, 8,427 in Central Kitsap, 5,486 in North Kitsap and 11,125 in South Kitsap. 149 cases have come from “unknown” areas of the county.
