Island Film Group screens forgotten flick

The Island Film Group will show the crime classic “Safe in Hell” at the club’s next meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11 at the Bainbridge Public Library.

The 1931 film stars Dorothy Mackaill, Donald Cook, and Ralf Harolde. After accidentally killing the man who raped her and forced her into prostitution, a New Orleans woman (Mackaill as Gilda Karlson) flees to a Caribbean island. While she awaits her fiancé, the vicious local police chief sets his sights on her.
