Selected reports from the Bainbridge Island Police Department blotter.

SUNDAY, FEB. 18

1:25 p.m. A 64-year-old man said someone went into his car while it was parked in the driveway at his Point White Drive home and took four packs of cigarettes and his wallet.

The items had been left in the car overnight. Inside the wallet were two Bank of America credit cards and a debit card, as well as $1,500 in cash.

The man told police he had left his car unlocked because this was Bainbridge Island and it was safe for people to leave their cars unlocked.

The man’s son said he heard a car pull away from the home at 4 a.m. when he stepped outside to have a smoke.

Police dusted the car for fingerprints.
