The Bainbridge High School Global Health Club is asking residents to donate dental supplies as part of a collection drive to assist immigrants in Kitsap County.
“Our Global Health students recently learned that immigrants in Kitsap County are in high need of dental care and supplies,” said parent mentor Kathryn McGowan.
“To help, students are asking the Bainbridge Island community to donate dental supplies — toothbrushes, toothpaste, dental floss, mouthwash, etc. — which they will deliver to the Kitsap Immigrant Assistance Center and to the immigrants it serves,” she explained.
Club members have prepared an educational video for teachers to share with students that describes their efforts, and have teamed with elementary kids to prepare collection boxes to be placed around the island.
Global Health Club students will be working specifically with Spanish immersion elementary students, McGowan said, to prepare collection boxes at 3:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 27 at the Bainbridge Island School District Spanish Immersion School. For details, email lauravandyke5@gmail.com.
