BAINBRIDGE – The Bainbridge High varsity girls basketball team suffered a 60-47 loss to Garfield High at home Wednesday, Dec. 7.
Garfield, a notorious contender in Metro, is ranked in eighth place in the state this year.
Despite the loss, the island squad’s coach said it was a hard-fought game with much praise to go around.
“It was a one-point game at half,” said Spartan Head Coach Henry Guterson. “Taylor Tye had 16 on 4/5 from the field. All 3s.”
(Tye also notched four from the free throw line for the rest of her points.)
“Kendall Havill had seven points and five assists and three steals,” Guterson added.
The loss left the Spartans with an overall record of 1-2. They next traveled to play against Franklin High Friday, Dec. 9.
