SEATTLE – A long shot at a playoff appearance was definitively snatched away from the Bainbridge High varsity football team Friday, Oct 25, when the Spartans were defeated during two mini games, a tie-breaker for further postseason play, by first Bishop Blanchet and then Lakeside High at Memorial Stadium in Seattle.

All three teams were set to end the regular season with conference records of 1-4. Lakeside technically began as the better of the three teams, with an overall record of 2-6 over Blanchet and Bainbridge’s overall 1-7.

In the first half of Friday’s the mini game, BHS was bested 7-0 by Blanchet, who scored in the first quarter and held the Spartans to zero in the second.

Coltrane Brooks managed 30 passing yards for Bainbridge, and Eric Jung led the scoring attempts with 27 rushing yards. Kyle Bierly ended the contest with 20 rushing yards.

In the second face off of the night, the Spartans were again shu tout 7-0 by Lakeside, who managed to leap ahead after a scoreless first quarter.

Brooks passed 127 yards against the Lions, and Christian Nonga Kingombe rushed 36 yards. Ethan Peloquin notched 56 receiving yards.

The two-way tiebreaker was the final slated field appearance for the Spartans this year, with 3A playoffs set to begin Friday, Nov. 4.
