Bainbridge students attend Boys and Girls State

The Bainbridge Island American Legion Post 172 and Auxiliary was happy to select and sponsor 12 outstanding Bainbridge Island rising seniors this summer to attend the Evergreen Boys and Girls State programs.

These one-week programs — held in Stanwood and Ellensburg — offered a fun and challenging environment where students became part of the operation of mock local and Washington state governments. The programs teach leadership skills and an understanding of how government works, and provide participants a chance to meet other students from all across Washington. The American Legion thanks its great Island supporters who provided contributions that enabled Bainbridge students to attend, including Rotary, Ace Hardware, Town &Country Market, and several individuals, as well.
